Emetophobia Awareness Campaign

A message that’s “Of Emet Importance”.

This project undertook the process of developing an artistic, fictitious campaign that centered around a cause that hasn’t been done before. The topic of mental health is massive, with many campaigns focusing on different facets of it. Emetophobia (the irrational fear of vomiting) is one that hasn’t been discussed enough, and one with personal experience to myself.

The goal of this campaign was to raise awareness for this mental illness by two different means; a physical art sculpture for public display and a media application that could be developed for users to download.

The physical sculpture is a standard toilet, with broken glass inside the bowl. Since people look into the bowl if they get sick, this brings the phobia to light by reminding the user doing this action. The shattered glass symbolizes the mind can become broken being effected by any mental health condition.

The fictional app for the campaign is designed and divided into numerous sections that a user can use to help aid in treating their phobia. It would allow them to track certain dietary patterns, find local restrooms, and connect with other users who share similar experiences.
